To promote the development of science technology in Europe, EU, which was established based on the cooperation of many European countries, combined the separate programs that were meant to strengthen competitiveness and further advance pure science research and development under a common roof of Framework Programs (FP).

  • The first Framework Program(FP) took place in 1984, and was the first round of a systematic joint research and development on an EU level. In 2007, the seventh Framework Program(FP7) began, and there has been sustained growth as funding for core fields and other research have been boosted

The Budget for FP (the 1st through the 7th)

  • The first Framework Program had a total budget of €3.7 billion, and in the seventh, it increased in 13 folds to €53.2 billion.
